Buysse & Partners invests 3 million euros in New Vision eye clinics.
A year after opening its first branch in Laakdal, New Vision has attracted 3 million euros in capital from Buysse & Partners for an ambitious growth plan: expanding a national network of eye centres.
Founded in 2015, New Vision offers a new model for ophthalmic treatments and procedures including cataract surgery, refractive lens implants and eyelid surgery. In late 2016, New Vision treated its first patients in a rented facility. In August 2020, New Vision opened its first eye clinic in Laakdal with a view to providing high-quality and accessible ophthalmological care outside the walls of a traditional hospital and in accordance with international safety standards.
New Vision responds to several challenges in the healthcare sector.
The increasing pressure on hospital financing and the availability of the operating room are some of the challenges that New Vision provides an answer to. The New Vision model allows ophthalmologists the freedom to treat patients at their own pace with clear reimbursement agreements between physician, facility and patient. In addition to interest from ophthalmologists, hospitals are also showing interest in this model: relatively simple eye surgeries can be performed at New Vision, freeing up more space in hospitals for more complex procedures. Offering ophthalmological care without waiting times has proven to be a major advantage, leading to a growing spontaneous influx of patients.
The transparent, market-based pricing also appeals to insurers. New Vision is recognized by the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (RIZIV) and has agreements with health insurance companies and insurers, meaning that the majority of the treatment is reimbursed, just like in a traditional hospital. A third-party payment arrangement has also been made with some insurers so patients are spared the paperwork.
New Vision aims to expand its network to approximately 10 branches within five years.
Johan Buyle, partner at Buysse & Partners, explains: "uysse & Partners sees a pioneering role in the New Vision model and wants to play an active role in this trend in healthcare."
